Hawaii Bound

It is only a couple days till we go to Hawaii. Yes, it sounds exciting and trust me I'm jacked. Here is how we see it in our minds. We party and stay up late having a great time.

The reality. We will probably be in bed by 10, well maybe 10:30, if we really hit the town hard and we will be up early to catch the morning buffet at Dukes.

Our college bodies are telling us to party like it was 2001, but our parent minds are telling us we have a bunch of beaches to lay on so you better relax.

To be honest, I hope we are able to hang with the young folks. I'm not saying I have something to prove, but we don't have the kid and all this time to ourselves.

We need to make it count. Who knows when the next time this will happen again.

Dang you Food...and Beer!

My arch nemesis is undoubtably food and some beer. I have a weakness for sweets and every once in a while I dip into the alcohol pool. I really don't see anything wrong with these - unless you're training for another marathon.

I am into my training routine but with bowls of candies and friends urging me to partake in just one drink life seems to be getting more difficult.

I have been able to abstain for the most part. I have cut out sweets almost entirely and have restricted my drinking to red wine only.

These two vices have loosened their grip, but with friends like mine there is no telling what may happen. I hope one day they will just let it go and just assume that I am always in some type of training routine. This would help say no much easier.

I've really put my foot down this time. I am not out to lose a bunch of weight. I just want to be the healthiest I can be. One day there won't be times in my life where I can just shed pounds by running 10 or 12 miles. It will become burdensome to lose a single pound.

My knee is getting better. I have to make myself ride the bike, but in the end I feel better because cycling is a great way to help knees recover. I will keep both of you posted on the progress. I am going to attempt to update at least once a week. Till then wheres the cupcakes?

Goin Strong

Life is fast these days. Jett is a growing boy and keeps Julie and I terribly busy. Work is ongoing and travel has been heating up. I am trying to catch up with work right now on all my work, but most importantly my family.

Nothing really new except Julie and I officially booked our trip to Hawaii. That is right, I said it...Hawaii. This will be our second trip, marking our tenth anniversary.

Here It Is

When I think I am ready for the half OKC tells me I am not. Apparently there was some confusion on my registration and I am not signed up. How frustrating is this, but it will be okay. I will go up early tomorrow and register with no problems. It is just disappointing because now it will look like I waited till the last second to register and that isn't what happened at all.

Here is hoping that I will get in the run.

Tis the Season...for Mowing

It is getting to be that time of year that lawns must be mowed and edges edged. I really do look forward to getting outside more. I get so tired of being holed up in the house all winter long, but that is just the nature of the beast. I am signed up for the half marathon, but really think I am not ready to run sub 1:40s. I did it back in October, but since the knee issues have been popping out my stride just hasn't been the same.

Maybe I can get that worked out by race time.

Still no Word

And yes if you must know I have not signed up. Is it the money or the motivation. This is gnawing at me and I have no clue why.

Grow up and Commit Already!

I've been tossing and turning with my decision to run the marathon or half marathon this year. I am going to man up and make a decision based off my current knee issues to run the half marathon.

I should be ready for it in a few weeks, but don't think I'd be ready to run the full. Plus, my training would be non stop for the full and I want to take it easier.

Life has been really good if you two have been wondering. I am really happy to be home for a while. Just livin the dream.
